Proper Steps For Breeding Boxer Dogs

The first step to take in breeding boxers is to select a veterinarian. You will need someone to take care of your boxer in case of an emergency. It is best that if your female boxer goes into labor you take her to see a veterinarian for assistance.

Next find a companion of the opposite sex of course for your boxer. Make sure they are a good match together. The male boxer is called a stud. If the stud has a good reputation among breeders the stud would have been used by multiple breeders. To get a stud to breed with your female boxer will cost around $1000.

When breeding the boxers keep in mind how much money you will need to take care of your boxer to keep them in good health. When a female boxer gets closer to delivery you will need to take her for weekly visits to the vet. Also take in to consideration the amount of money it will cost you to take care of the new boxers when they are born.

You will need to initially take the female boxer to the vet to get tested for a variety of issues. This will give you papers to prove your female is healthy. Have x-rays taken to detect any abnormalities with her hips. Have her thyroids checked out and make sure she has all necessary immunizations. It is also highly recommended that you get a heart health certification.

When the boxer puppies are born it will be a wise idea to register them with the AKC to make it official that the pups are boxers. When you are selling the boxers it is very beneficial to have the proof that the pups are registered with the AKC and have a health record. If the adult boxer is not registered before the pups are sold you need to do so.
